Organisers Visit EOC 2008 Arena Sites in Ventspils

On 20 and 21 November, 2007, EOC Organising Committee met in Ventspils to visit the actual event sites and finalize the layout of arenas, the location of start and finish areas all despite the weather conditions that were not exactly field-visit-friendly.

A number of initially drafted layouts underwent revisions with the purpose to attain exact compliance with the IOF rules and also to make the arenas as convenient as possible for all parties, starting with runners and ending with spectators. The organisers appreciate the advice extended by IOF representatives Bjrn Persson (Sports Director) and Rimas Jovaias (Adviser). The organisers thankfully accepted the recommendations by Per Forsberg (Sweden), an Event Speaker, as to the location of radio controls, possible spots for TV cameras, screens etc. Given the limited experience of organisers in presentation matters, his expertise is invaluable.
